57.3% passing rate of November 2014 NLE highest in 15 years

Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results of November 2014 Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) on January 23, 2015, and it has a 57.3% passing rate which is the highest in 15 years.

In a list of passers and topnotchers made public in 29 days after the nursing board exam, PRC announced that a total 15,292 out of 26,690 examinees (or a 57.3% rate) passed the NLE administered in the cities of Manila, Bacolod, Baguio, Cabanatuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Laoag, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last November 29-30, 2014.

Elijah Catacutan Legaspi of PLM topped the exam with 86.80% rating, while the top schools were Remedios Romualdez Medical Foundation, Saint Paul University Iloilo and Tuguegarao campuses and Xavier University - all with 100% passing rate.

Interestingly, it is the first nursing board exam given by the new Board of Nursing composed of Carmencita M. Abaquin, Chairman; Perla G. Po, Gloria B. Arcos, Carmelita C. Divinagracia, Carfredda P. Dumlao, Glenda S. Arquiza and Florence C. Cawaon, Members.

Dr. Divinagracia, Dr. Arcos, Dr. Cawaon, Dr. Dumalao and Dr. Arquiza were the newest members appointed to PRC-BON last year.

The highest NLE passing rate since 1996 was in November 1998 at 57.5%, but only 8,209 took the exam that year. Here'  the NLE results through the years:
