Carl E. Balita posted in his Facebook profile a link from FHM's website showing glamour model Alyzza Alano in nurse uniform while doing sexy poses. The photos were from October 2012 issue of the magazine.
The photos did not sit well with Balita, calling it 'an insult to the nursing profession'.
"To the actress or model i dont actually know who, you will probably be more popular for doing this, but wait until you get hospitalized and you will realize that NURSES DESERVE ALL THE RESPECT THEY CAN GET."
"To FHM, if you are used to abuse women with the excuse that this is for the sake of art, go ahead, SELL AND MAKE MONEY (that's your business!) but not at the expense of some sacred symbols like the nurses cap, please. Show us not only some flesh, show us (and your subjects) some RESPECT," he added in another social media post.
Most nurses agree with Balita, and here's a few of their comments:
Mananayaw ako: "I am a nurse by profession and currently working in the Red Cross, the world's oldest humanitarian organization. This is a misuse of the red cross emblem under the RA 10072."
Rizza Dumadag:"Very disturbing...Nursing is the most honest profession and by all means can not be disgraced."
But some thought that the issue is not that relevant, and since it was done in 2012, nurses should just 'move on.'
Ran Loresca: "This issue is very shallow as compared to the situation our country is going through today. Just move on."
Chris C. Daymon" "Why are you all having an outrage when the article was October 2012. It was almost 2 years ago (and counting). In my humble opinion, let us just move on and bury the hatchet. This is a very very shallow article that needs no attention, and most of all.... it doesn't pay our taxes and put food on the table."
