Japanese investors mull building of training facility for nurses, caregivers

A training facility is being eyed to be constructed in the Philippines by Japanese investors in a bid to enhance the employability of Filipino healthcare professionals, such as nurses and caregivers aspiring to work in Japan.

This was announced yesterday by Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III following his meeting with a 15-man delegation from the Philippine Human Resource Global Information Center Inc (PHGIC), Sage Asia Language and Educational Center Inc (SALAEC), and six different healthcare companies from Japan.

“Some members of the delegation from the Taizankai Medical Society laid down plans to establish a training facility here to ensure the readiness of Filipino healthcare professionals to be employed, not only in Japan, but also in other parts of the world,” Bello said.

Bello had a meeting with the group to discuss the current developments, challenges and opportunities for Filipino workers in Japan.

In his message, TMS President Taiji Yamada said there is no doubt that the caring and hospitable characteristics of the Filipinos are well suited for the growing healthcare industry.




Bello expressed thanks to the Japanese delegation for their interest in hosting a training facility for healthcare professionals in the country.

“We appreciate your coming here to help our healthcare professionals. We hope that with your investments, more opportunities will be available to our jobseekers. Rest assured of our support to this project,” he said.[via DOLE]
