'Nurse in undies' ad earns flak online

An herbal tea advertisement showing a model in her underwear and wearing a nursing cap has caught the ire of nurses online.

Rhino Herbal Tea, a libido-boosting drink made of herbal ingredients, showed model Abby Poblador wearing 'sexualized' nursing outfits in their posters and other marketing paraphernalia.

"Cheap and such a disgrace to nursing," said Dr. Carl E. Balita as he posted a tire-cover advertisement of Rhino in his Facebook account.

"Why should a NURSE be the image model for such a product and cheaply promoted through tire covers of jeepneys? I'm bringing this matter to PNA and Ang Nars!"

Chief nursing officer Harby Abellanosa chimed in: "Ganyan na ba talaga ka baba ang tingin nitong mga company na ito sa ating propesyon at bokasyon?"

The nursing community was also up in arms last year after Eat Bulaga featured Pauleen Luna, LJ Reyes and Ryza Cenon in nurse uniform doing a dance number. Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) found the segment disrespectful to the profession.

PNA and Ang Nars partylist have yet to issue their statements on this issue.
