DOH NDP nurses to get P33,575 basic salary this 2021

Nurses under the Nurse Deployment Program (NDP) for 2021 will once again get a higher basic salary of over P33,000 monthly. This after the government gives a go to the implementation of second tranche of Salary Standardization Law (SSL) 5 starting this January.

Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued National Budget Circular No. 548, which sets the guidelines for the implementation of the second tranche of salary increase for civilian personnel pursuant to Republic Act 11466. The pay hike covers all national government agencies (NGAs) including the Department of Health which handles the NDP under the Human Resource for Health Program.

Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado said the salary adjustments for personnel employed by national government agencies are chargeable against their respective Personnel Service budget under the 2021 General Appropriations Act.

DBM also provides the new Salary Schedule for SSL V to be followed by government agencies in adjusting the salaries of employees. Also, the agency may submit a request to the DBM for the release of additional funding charged to the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund in case of deficiency.

NDP nurses salary

NDP nurses are under Personal Services - Contractual status for one year with basic pay of Salary Grade 15. Last year, that's P32,053 basic monthly salary under the first tranche of SSL V. It will be P33,575 this year with the implementation of the second tranche of SSL V.

Aside from basic pay, NDP also gets Magna Carta Benefits (PERA, subsistence, laundry and hazard pay), and employers share. For the end of the year, NDP and other HRH under PS also get one-time grants of Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) benefit of Php 1,800, Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) of Php 6,900, and Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) of Php 5,000.

Republic Act 11466 or the Salary Standardization Law seeks to increase the basic salaries of government employees, including nurses and teachers, in four tranches from 2020 to 2023. For NDP nurses, it's P32,053 in 2020, P33,575 this 2021, P35,097 in 2022, and P36,619 in 2023 for the final tranche.

Aside from the yearly increase in their basic pay, NDP nurses long for the time when they will be placed in a regular status with a plantilla position in the health department. They also hope that the payment of their salaries will not be delayed for months.
