Usec. Herbosa's TV interview gets negative reactions from nurses

Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Teodoro Herbosa was interviewed on noontime news program of GMA7 on Thursday, and what he said did not sit well with nurses.

In noontime newscast Balitanghali, program anchor Raffy Tima asked Teodoro's comments on the mass protest done by nurses on October 17 over low salary.

Herbosa answered that he doesn't know what the nurses are complaining about because nurses in DOH hospitals have high salaries, with "entry level of Salary Grade 16, 17 or over P20,000 a month, and if they are promoted to the next salary grade, their salaries are over P30,000 in plantilla positions in government."

"Our employed nurses have no complaints like that. In fact, in all hospitals of Department of Health that I visited, nurses are happy with their salaries," added Herbosa.

Nurses were mostly dismayed with Herbosa's statement, saying that the undersecretary does not have an idea of the true plight of Filipino nurses. They vent their frustrations in social media; read some of the comments below.

Teodoro? All his life nandito sya, pero walang kaalam alam XD.

Think again.
