La Bonita Cebu Japanese Karaoke Bar posted banners and ads inviting everyone to join their 'Sexy Nurse Party' this September. The bar located at 2nd Floor, The Forum at Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City claims that it is the no. 1 karaoke bar in the Queen City of the South.
The ads caught the attention of advocacy group Nurses for Change Movement, which strongly expressed its frustration for the said event of the bar.
"SHAME ON YOU La Bonita Cebu Japanese Karaoke Bar! NURSES ARE NOT SEX OBJECTS! Where is the RESPECT for our noble profession? Nurses save thousands of lives everyday. We nurture new life being born. We aid the sick during their darkest times. And we ensure DIGNITY in their final moments. La Bonita, you have NO RIGHT to use our IMAGE!" the group posted in their Facebook page.
Other nurses who have picked up the story online were also disgusted with the inappropriate use of their noble profession for such a shameful event.
"Aside from disrespecting the nursing profession, they can be sued for the misuse of the "red cross" symbol," a nurse commented.
The nurses are also calling the attention of Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) to do something about it. Nurses, what's your thoughts on this issue?
